Family Mediation can be used when there are issues within the structure of the family that are causing problems for other members of the family group, this can be due to the behaviour of an adolescent member of the family, or because the family are separating and having difficulties coming to agreements about contact, custody, finance and residency. Family mediation can also be used for separating couples without children, who want to deconstruct their relationship with the minimum harm and upset Mediation is becoming more popular for families that have come together through second marriages and are having issues coping with new family structures. The Mediator is trained to facilitate your discussions in such away that each member of the group or family in dispute can be heard in a respectful and non-judgemental way. What happens? The mediator has a private and confidential meeting with each member of the family The mediator arranges a neutral venue where all family members can meet and the mediation session can take place. Ground rules are set for all members of the mediation process to ensure a fair and respectful meeting.
